Peter Pike
Peter was born in Swindon, England 1961. His parents immigrated to the Bahamas when he was a very young child. His father was chief engineer for Long Island Estate development at Stella Maris. Peter spent his childhood growing up in Long Island and attended school on the island and Nassau. In the late 70’s Peter attended high school in the United States. He enrolled in School of Architecture at The University of Florida where he gradated with honors. After two years of working in the field Peter passed the State of Florida’s General Building Contractors Exam. He then enrolled at the University of Miami’s prestigious School of Architecture. He received his professional degree in architecture and proceeded into his internship program.
Peter became licensed to practice architecture in 1995. He holds a NCARB certificate that allows him to practice in all 50 States of America. He has engaged in private practice since 1999. For the last 25 years he calls Key West Florida his home. He shares this with his wife Jeannette and has two children, Trevor and Sarah.
Peter has built an award winning architecture and design firm. His company produces top notch projects in residential and commercial projects. He has designed private residences, hotel resorts, marinas and commercial projects thru out Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.. Peters Bahamian roots weight heavily in his designs. A Caribbean style is evident in most of his work. Some of his Long Island work includes design services for Jorge Friese and several residences for the other partners of Stella Maris. Peter also provided initial deign consultation for RUFO and the new Port St George project.
Peter’s latest project centers on his “Caribbean Cottages.” These are prefabricated, pre decorated, panelized homes that allow for quick and simple erection once they reach the site. The cottages floors, walls and roofs are designed to slip inside a standard shipping container and can be shipped anywhere in the world. Peter has gone to great lengths to design a cottage that reflections the qualities of living with in the tropics. From shaded wrap around porches to hurricane resistant construction.
